Your introduction should tell the reader what to expect from your essay. Stay focussed on the question, and keep it brief. Do not give very broad background information on the general topic, but focus instead on what is relevant to answering the set question.
Write your assignment using your map or plan to guide you. As you write, you may well get new ideas or think about ideas in slightly different ways. This is fine, but check back to your map or plan to evaluate whether that idea fits well into the plan or the paragraph that you are writing at the time.
In a college legal studies course, and in some law school courses, you may be required to write a research paper addressing a legal topic. These essays can be tricky, because the law is constantly evolving. To secure a top grade, your essay must be well-researched and coherently argued.
